Building Inspection Department Permits and Fees
  • Building Permit - $10.00 for the first $1,000 of value and $8.00 for each additional $1,000 of value or part thereof.
  • Trade Permit/Plumbing, Electric, Heating, Mechanical, etc. - $10.00 for the first $1,000 of value and $8.00 for each additional $1,000 of value or part thereof.
  • Certificate of Occupancy - $10.00
  • Demolition Permits - $10.00 for the first $1,000 of assessed value and $2.00 for each additional $1,000 of value or part thereof.
  • Inspection/Re-inspection - $20.00 for existing items and $20.00 for re-inspection after 2 inspections for the same item.Ledge Light Health District handles the following:
    • Sub-Surface Sewage Disposal Installation Permit
    • Repairs or the replacement of an existing system
    • Public Sewer
    • Water Supply Wells
    • Test Hole, Percolation Tests
    • Additional test holes and percolation tests

  • Zoning Regulation - $14.00
  • Zoning Map - $6.00
  • Building Permit - Residential/Commercial Zoning Review, $1000.00 valuation, $4.00
  • CAM (Coastal Area Management) Application - $25.00
  • Change of Use Certificate (with no change in site plan) - $15.00
  • Flood Hazard Application - $25.00
  • Home Occupation Permit - $50.00
  • Mobile Home - $1000.00 valuation as indicated on Bill of Sale, $4.00Mobile Unit (Temporary) - Agriculture, $40.00, Residential, $80.00 (six-month renewal), Construction/Office Storage, $80.00 (six-month renewal)
  • Permits requiring Public Hearing :
    • Commercial/Industrial, Sections 4.6.4, 5.6.4, 7, 8, $300.00

    Site Plan - Commercial/Industrial or Residential, also temporary permit renewal (other than mobile unit) according to area of development:
    • Less than 10K sq. ft. - $50.00
    • More than 10K and less than 25K sq. ft. - $100.00
    • More than 25K and less than 100K sq. ft. - $200.00
    • More than 100K sq. ft. - $300.00
  • Site Plan - Commercial/Industrial, minor modification, $25.00
  • Site Plan - Grading/Filling, no significant change in topography, $25.00
  • Zoning Board of Appeals - Appeal of ZEO order or decision, Variance Request, $200.00
  • As per C.G.S. Section 22a-27j, an additional $30.00 State fee will be collected for all applications.


Planning Department - Subdivision Application Fees

(adopted: 11/16/2006, effective: 12/7/2006)

·         Copy of subdivision regulations - $10.00

·         Subdivision/Resubdivision Application Fee Schedule:

    • 1-10 lots                        $200 per lot*
    • 11-20 lots                      $250 per lot
    • 21 lots or greater            $300 per lot

* Minimum fee if public hearing is required: $800

·         A $30 State fee is added to each application per Connecticut General Statutes Section 22a-27.

·         The Planning Commission reserves the right to apply project review fees such as professional, legal, engineering, et cetera, in addition to administrative fees.  These expenses shall be assessed by the Planning Commission and paid by the applicant on an actual and reasonable cost basis after the services are rendered to the Commission.

·         Engineering Fees for Ledyard Subdivisions:

    • New Road or extension of existing road:                           $5 per linear foot*
    •  Each structure (e.g.: catch basin, man hole cover)           $25
    • Detention Basin                                                             $500
    • Cul-de-sac Fee (permanent OR temporary)                       $2,500
    • Modification of Approval Fee                                            $500

 *The linear foot fee shall be calculate by measuring along the distance of the road center line from the point of beginning of the new intersection to the end point of the next intersection or, if a cul-de-sac, to the center of the cul-de-sac bulb.


Fire Marshal's Office Permits and Fees
  • Blasting Permit - $20.
  • Permit - No Fee

Mayor's Office
  • Auctioneer - $10.00
  • Solicitor - $10.00
  • Raffle and Bazaar - Fees vary

Parks & Recreation Department
  • Field Permits - Field Permits are required to use any of the athletic fields in town.
  • Park Permits - Permits are required to use Colonel Ledyard Park, Highland Lake and Sawmill Park for groups of 25 or more. Fees: $25.00 for Town residents, $35.00 for Non-residents, $50.00 for Town businesses, $100.00 for an out-of-town business and no fee for a non-profit group.

  • Marriage License - $30.00
  • Dog License:
    • Puppy: 6 months $8.00 (Spayed or Neutered)
    • Puppy: 6 months $19.00 (Not Spayed or Neutered)
    • Adult Dog: $8.00 (Spayed or Neutered)
    • Adult Dog: $19.00 (Not Spayed or Neutered)
    • Kennel: $51.00
    • Late fee $1.00 per month

Water Pollution Control Authority Permits and Development Fees

  • Water Permit Fee - $250.00
  • Sewer Permit Fee - $500.00
  • Water Development Fee - $1,500.00
  • Sewer Development Fee - $1,500.00
