On Saturday December 6, 2008 a local fugitive, Justin A. Portbury DOB 03/04/1989 of 112-G Michael Rd in New London, CT, was arrested in Lancaster Pennsylvania for assault charges in that state. The Groton Town, Grotom City, New London, and Ledyard Police Departments hold seven arrest warrants for Portbury on multiple charges in the State of Connecticut. Because of those warrants, Portbury was also arrested as a fugitive from Justice and will be awaiting the extradition process to the State of Connecticut.

On December 9, 2008 Richard Dunham DOB 08/23/88, who is currently residing at the Corrigan Correctional Institute on unrelated charges, was arrest by the Ledyard Police Department for Sexual Assault in the First Degree (2 counts) and Risk of Injury to a Minor (2 counts). Dunham was arrested at the New London Superior Court and presented for arraignment. Investigation by the Ledyard Police Department alleges that between November and December 2004, Dunham sexually assaulted a then 11 year old female at a residence in Ledyard. On December 9, 2008 the Ledyard Police Department arrested Eric L. Abbott DOB 06/21/85, who currently resides at the Corrigan Correctional Institute, on an arrest warrant charging him with Larceny in the 3rd degree. Abbott was arrested at the Norwich superior court and presented for arraignment. Investigation by the Ledyard Police Department alleges that Abbott stole jewelry valued at approximately $3,900 from a residence in Ledyard. No further information is available at this time.
