Subdivision & Free Split
Subdivision
The subdivision process is a multi-step process that involves approval from the planning, zoning and inland wetlands commissions and compliance with
zoning regulations (1963),
subdivision regulations (1962) and
inland wetlands regulations (1974).
To make the subdivision process as straightforward as possible, the Planning Department has put a detailed application packet that includes all forms needed, as well as a description of the subdivision process.
Free Split
A “free split” is a land use tool that allows a property owner to split his or her lot of land once without having to go through regulatory process. Property lots are only eligible for a “free split” if they have not been split since March 21, 1962.
